That will catch up to you after a while.

Matt Forte did just as I expected. I wasn't surprised like some around the league.

Kyle Orton did just what I expected. Threw the first one in the dirt. He played OK. Managed the game - didn't win it. He didn't have to - his running back got 120 yards and the defense scored as usual.

Great, we are up 1-0.

So what's the first thing I hear on WLS sports update on Monday morning?

"Bears win a game that was expertly quarterbacked by Kyle Orton".

Please. Here it goes. Given the crap they gave Rex last year, the local media needs Kyle to be great.

Rex Grossman & Tom Brady - Two Sides Of The Same Coin

Gee - it's gotta suck in New England this morning. Patriots fans got to witness something that they are not familiar with: seeing the QB on his ass. And when your QB is on his ass for most of the game there is something he just cannot do: that would be to quarterback.

I have said in this blog numerous times that if Brady or Peyton Manning came to the Bears their QB rating, TD's to Int's %, and win/loss stats would pretty much be the same as Rex's or Griese's or Orton's.

Some of you thought I was high. Well how do you like me now?

It's so FUCKING funny how all the clown-boys on Chicago sports radio and most of the print media in this town persecuted Rex for not "sensing the rush", not knowing how to step up the pocket when pressure is coming, and not being mobile enough to get out of the pocket like any "real" NFL QB would, etc., etc.,

Gee, didn't look like the future greatest QB of all time, Tom Brady, knew how to "sense the rush" last night. I can't remember of the three, but on the Chicago ESPN afternoon AM 1000 radio talk show, "Mike, Jerk-off, and Harry", one of those morons would lament week after week how Rex sucks cause he doesn't know how to "sense the rush".

"I want a QB that knows where the pressure is coming from and is fast enough to run away from it" you would hear from that show week after week.

So I guess they wouldn't want Tom Brady to play in Chicago, who by his own admission doesn't run that good anyway.

Among those in Chicago who knows how to play QB - even the average fat-ass ex-lineman, everyone to almost a moron, parroted the fact that Rex needs to "step up in the pocket". Just like Brady did against the Giants I guess. It was also too funny how Troy Aikeman didn't have anything to say about Brady not stepping up in the pocket last night. But, he managed to say it 4-5 times a game about Rex when he was doing Bears games along with his jerk-me buddy, Joe Buck. Let's face it, one, you don't criticize Tom Brady. Two you can criticize Rex Grossman because everyone else is doing it. Three, the type of fast, furious, in your-face-in-2-seconds FROM EVERYWHERE kinda rush that Rex got almost every down this year, was somehow not as intense as the rush from the Giants D-line that Brady got in the Super Bowl.

Yea right.

When Rex couldn't make plays because the Bears O-line couldn't block, well, supposedly a good quarter back would make a play and make something happen. Uh, huh. When Brady couldn't avoid the Giant's rush, all Aikeman had to say was that the Giants were soooo good. Uh, huh. Troy, for being a pussy and not calling out your buddy Tom Brady for the EXACT same things you picked on Rex for - you are a JAG BAG!

But, truth be told, what the hell was Brady suppose to do? They were killing him. If you ever watch a highlight film of Brady, Manning (not JR. who just got his 15 minutes), or Montana, 95% of the time they have no one around then except their own lineman. How many times did we see Brady have 5-6 seconds to throw the ball this year? And he had Moss, Stallworth, and Weckler to throw it too.

How many times did we see Rex have more than 2-3 seconds to throw the ball? Not many. And who does Rex throw it to? Berrian, Moose, and whoever?

Ya see, to these numb-nuts media types, favoritism and cowardice go hand in hand. There is no bigger bullshit artist than the average guy on sports talk radio or the me-too come lately's who pretend they are the next John Madden. What these clowns don't get is that the Madden's and Ditka's of the world separate them self’s from the pack because they have the BALLS to call it like it is - not make excuses or omit facts for one, then turn around and hold someone like Rex to another standard.

Rex Grossman: very good. Chicago Clown Media: very bad

If any one has been reading my rants over the past couple of months, you know where I stand about Rex and his ability and of the Chicago media and there inabilities.

I had a feeling - almost like Spider-man-like sense that all was not good on Lovie's "Good Ship Chicago Bears" - last year. Yea they kept winning and I thought they were a very good team. But I always figured they were an injury or two away from being an ordinary team.

This year, unfortunately, proves my hunch right.

The big question I have is why did it take all this time for the Chicago media to figure it out? Did they really feel Rex was playing that bad or did they see what I saw mid-way through fall of 2006 that the coaching staff did not adjust to the league’s adjustment to them? I've said it before and I will say it now, again: the Bears brain trust is dumb - Lovie Smith needs the benching. The Bears should just fire him and start over fresh. It is his ineptitude that has made this team not so much losers (injuries have a lot to do with that), but exposed him as a pretender as a coach and a leader.

The Bears are/were plenty good to be an 8-5 team right now with simple adjustments in play calling. You can blame a game or two on a bad play, assistant coach, booing fans, whatever. But reviewing the over all trend of this team produces one answer: Lovie is too kind, too sweet, and too full of shit to be an effective NFL head coach.

Hopefully Rex doesn't have a serious injury to his knee. I hope he recovers fast. I hope he works his ass off during the off season. I hope he will tell the Bears and the City of Chicago to kiss his ass and go else where. Bilick? Martz? Rex will be in high demand. His wavier wire will last all of 5 seconds if that.

OK - let's expose this whiny-ass Chicago print & radio media. This is too easy - like shooting morons in a fish bowl.

The time is 2006 and Rex is lighting up the league. He is offensive player of the month for September and the Bears look like contenders, blowing out everyone they see. They have Thomas Jones in the backfield. Most of the defense is intact. Teams are lying down in front of them. Life is good. All the experts recognize Rex for his pure ability as a NFL QB. He is at the moment, a top 5 QB amongst the Brady’s, Manning’s, Palmers, etc. (pick you 5th, I can't).

Then came the Arizona game. Dennis Green decoded the smoke and mirrors. Lovie just looked out across the field with that "I think I'm Bill Walsh" all business stare. The Bears were out coached but not out played. Yea, Rex had a bad game. But it was a game made worse by an inept coaching staff that was too stupid to make adjustments to the uppity Cardinals and or too stubborn to change because, well, "We're the Bears and we come off the bus just being us".

Brian Urlacher, Nathan Vasher, and Charles Tillman saved that game. Pure want to. Pure pride. Pure hard hits. They played inspired and for them self’s - not for any coach, I believe.

"They were who we thought they were". No truer words were spoken. This was the beginning of the end for Lovie's charade.

The rest of the teams now had enough film on Rex and the overall scheme of the Bears that after watching Arizona do it; a blueprint was created for all to follow: send 8 cuz Mr. Turner can't set up an effective screen and there really isn't a deep threat by any of the Bears wide receivers. Simple.

So now that Rex had no time to throw, many in the media, who are out of breath by the time they get to the candy machines in their offices, said that Rex is inept because he can't handle the pressure. He's not quick enough in his drop. Doesn't have a quick release. Wow, guys, that was brilliant. The point was not that Rex couldn't get rid of it quickly - it's who the hell his he going to throw it to? Brady always has had someone. Manning too. Rex? Well, let's see Moose. Berrian. Davis? Not exactly guys that would be starting on other teams, ya know. We have no route runners or separators. End of story. Most great QB's have always had great offensive lines and great receivers.

And to add to the point of getting rid of it quickly, what adjustment did the Bears make for the receivers to exploit the blitzes? None. The league sent everyone and we ran Jones up the middle. Yup, Rex sucks.

The start of the 2007 season was no better. All the opposing Head Coaches had to do was dust off the blue print that worked well against the Bears in 2006 and re-apply it in 2007. If they knew one thing it was this: the Bears coaching staff is too stupid and has too much pride to change a thing. Remember Steve Smith and the 2005 play off game? Say no more.

Well, my boy Rex found himself in similar situations as before but there was no defense to rescue them. They should have won the opening game against the Chargers. They held LT to 25 yards. The D played well for the most part - the exception being that dumb pop-Warner pass from LT to who ever in the end zone.

Bears loose. The league takes notice. Rex is easy to be.., err Lovie is easy to beat.

I said it then. There is no difference between Rex when he is down 17 in the 4th and Brady or Manning. You try to force it in triple coverage. You do things you don't do in the first quarter. But the Bears offense is not designed to score points. The established experts in Chicago could not see that. Heck, me and my boys saw the obvious a long time ago and we have real day jobs. Now Rex sucks. He can't make good decisions when they put 8 in the box. They are on him in 1.8 seconds because our O-line couldn't block a bunch grannies from a bingo parlor. Yup, Rex is loosing this thing for us. Let's get Griese.

Brian Griese. He's a nice guy. But there is a reason why he has bounced around the league and now a back up in Chicago. His arm is not that good. He was throwing at receiver’s feet. All the time. But, you could hear Tommy Thayer blurt out: "That's OK, that's OK...just give him a chance". Uh, TT, your boy sucks and he is and forever will be, a back up.

Rex comes back in. He learns how to play with in Turner's stupid offense. Rex still gets sacked. Rex understands now that it better to loose the game and not try, than to try and maybe throw a pick. God knows if you throw a pick then it will confirm in Lovie's mind, Mike North's mind, Buffone's and O'Bradavich's mind that you suck. I was hearing praise for Rex in how he played a great game even though the Bears lost. Heard that several times in the last few weeks or so. Ya see everybody, Rex did not throw a pick so therefore he has "arrived". I bet if Rex threw 2 picks and the Bears won one of the recent losses by a point or two, they still would be saying he "isn't the answer".

It's funny, Rex got great kudos in the Denver game for rallying the team from behind to beat the Broncos. If they came up short, how much would have been made of the earlier pick in the second quarter?

We should have beat Washington. They really do suck. I think Lovie and Turner can say that the Washington game sums up the fact that they have to go. The experiment is over. Maybe the loss to the Redskins is a blessing. The ship is wandering around in the harbor. Get a smart coach. Get a coach with balls.

All I hear now from the Chicago media is that we don't have an offensive line. Said that 3 months ago. We don't have a running game. Said that 3 months ago. Our defense can not stop a toy train. Said that 3 months ago. Our playing calling is dumb, ineffective, and predictable. Said that 3 months ago. The one thing I don't hear anymore is that Rex sucks. Actually, I've heard complimentary things about Rex lately. So what else was I saying 3 months ago: Rex is a damn good NFL quarterback playing on a bullshit team.

I guess we all now agree. And these media clowns get paid? My daughter and I were listening to the Score the other day and couldn't understand the babble about Rex, the sudden change of heart, the lack of memory of what they were saying just a few short months ago - "Rex is through in Chicago" the Bears are getting rid of him. Now, these same guys are saying that maybe Rex should stay. Maybe? Like all of a sudden they figured out that Griese is a perennial back up and Orton probably will be too?

The media clowns in Chicago get paid to TALK, not think.

Said that 3 months ago.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://rexdoesnotsuck.blogspot.com/2007/12/rex-grossman-very-good-chicago-clown.html' title='Rex Grossman: very good. Chicago media sucks as usual...

Well Rex got back in due to an injury to Griese during the Oakland game.

Can't say I was upset. As a matter fact, I grabbed the Grossman jersey and happily put it on.

Can we all agree that Rex, hands down, gives this crap Bears team the best chance to win?

Where are all you Chicago media types quoting Passer Ratings? Wasn't he in the 90's against Oakland? He had an 86 passer rating against Seattle. Where are all you lame ass piss heads on the Score and AM 1000 today? All of a sudden passer ratings don't count? Funny how they did when Rex was having some issues. You know, Tom Waddle, Doug Buffone, Mike North, Mat, Jerk-off, & Harry: you all SUCK - and you are pretty stupid to boot.

But I guess if you are paid to talk about something and you have your heart and soul into bashing a guy no matter what he does, it may take more balls than you have to admit your football perceptions were wrong.

Some how after hearing the whole lot of you piss and moan and trying to remind us with your negative babble that Rex "really does suck"all last week, I don't have much hope in any one of you stepping up and saying you were wrong.

Rex Grossman is one of the best QB's out there. Terry Bradshaw seems to think so and last time I checked, he forgot more about being a QB yesterday than anyone of you Chicago schmucks did know.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://rexdoesnotsuck.blogspot.com/2007/11/rex-is-back-chicago-media-sucks-as.html' title='Rex is back. Tom Brady. Who's Better?

I found this post at http://www.truthandopinion.net

Here was my reply:

"I love Tom Brady. But Montana is still the greatest. Arguably, Montana, Marino, Bradshaw all played in tougher times - New England and Indy don't have much to worry about these days. Too many teams; diluted defensive talent. Back in the day guys like Brady would have gotten their ass handed to them every week without all the candy-ass rules that protect a QB now.

The 3 best QB's in the game right now:

Brady
Manning
Grossman

OK - before all of you jump on me, hear me out - first, go to http://rexdoesnotsuck.blogspot.com/ and read some of my posts. I'm not high, I promise!

Second, there isn't a pass Brady or Manning can make right now that Grossman can't do equally or better.

He is just getting screwed in Chicago. Brady and Manning while highly talented, have class systems to work in. They have protection. They have a running game to work off of. They have receivers who do 2 things which they don't do often in Chicago:

1. Get open

2. Catch the ball

Imagine that.

Think about this, what stats do you think Brady or Manning would have if they had Chicago's receivers, o-line and Cedric Benson?

I would be willing to bet they would have more picks than TD's. Funny, the Chicago media has really piped down about Rex lately. Looks like the Bears suck anyway - and most of that I place on the coaches. Lovie is not that smart.

If you install a pee-wee offense and don't block for your QB, then blame your QB for everything that goes wrong, then the media chants 24/7 to bench Rex, then the media says his confidence is shattered - well duh.

Even Brady and Manning would begin doubting if every time they aired it out a receiver drops it or makes no effort to bat it away from the defender. There have been at least 4 TD passes or near TD passes that have been dropped on Rex.

Yea but that dumb-ass Chicago sports media keeps playing the dumb pick - over and over again.

Like him or not, Terry Bradshaw is a good evaluator of talent. He has come out in favor of Rex and pretty much verified everything I've said above. Put Rex in New England or Indianapolis and you would see something special.

Oh, what were supposed to be talking about? Brady.

Yea, he's OK."

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://rexdoesnotsuck.blogspot.com/2007/10/rex-grossman-tom-brady-whos-better.html' title='Rex Grossman. Then, of course the 89 yarder to Hester which was a pretty rope - as good as anyone in the League could have done.

So the questions loom.

Where was that Moose when Rex was threading the needle to him time and again? Moose had 2-3 guys near him, Griese hit him on the numbers and he did his job and took the ball to the house. He never did that for Rex. Arguably, Rex threw better balls to him on a consistent basis for the first 3 games.

And Heaven Devin. Lovie just figured Devin can burn most guys on a fly route?

You put 1 or 2 more TD's in Rex's hands and he would still be starting.

Dumb things I've heard in the Chicago media...

Last week on the throw to Desmond Clark for a TD against the Packers: "Oh, the leadership Griese displays. The presence of mind to hit Clark, etc. Rex couldn't have made that throw".

Really?

That's what Buffone and O' Bradovich say. Are these guys blind?

Hey Johnnies: Rex has more touch, is more accurate, and has an all out gun when needed, than Griese ever had.

Please Buffone. Stop yourself!!!!

Listening to mid-day on the Score, today, a caller complained that Griese was getting a pass (no pun intended) on his 3 picks. He said that if Grossman would have done that, they would have ripped him as usual. And he is right.

The hosts were quick to mention that they "brought it up". Yea big deal. Like the rest of the Hate Rex media, you guys are so lame. You balanced out your feigned rip on Griese by saying "but what abut his yardage?". Lame. Like 89 of that went to Devin on one throw.

Where's the hate for Romo?

OK media. Last year the Bears squeaked by Arizona and were lucky to win the game after a piss-poor performance by Rex Grossman. Local and national media went goofy and the term "Bad Rex" appeared. But the Bears won anyway.

This year, coroneted and all-world Tony Romo threw 5 picks and fumbled once against a nobody team in Buffalo. The Cowboys too were lucky to win the game. Buffalo did everything they could do to lose. So did Arizona.

So where's the hate for Romo the same way there was hate for Rex? Like Romo, this was Rex's first "bad" game.

It goes to show how the Chicago and national sports media blows. It's funny how they don't have the stones to call each other on their own BS.

Maybe if they took 5 seconds for a breather and removed their collective tongues out of Romo's ass they would see their hypocrisy.
<img width='1' height='1' found a good discussion on Rex here:

<a rgb(51, 51, 255);">I think the bottom line here is that it has been confirmed that:

- the quarterback position is the problem

- Grossman is not the answer

- Griese does not appear to be the answer, but we should give him a couple more games

- we still don’t know if Orton is the answer"

That's dumb. Rex made the same physical and mental mistakes as did Brady, Manning, Farve etc. While those QB's got a lot of heat from their home press, they were not crucified like we have done to Rex Grossman.

Terry Bradshaw flat out said that the dumbest thing to do was to bench Grossman. He said that Grossman can throw the ball deep as well as anyone in the league. He should know. He won 4 Super Bowls. And Bradshaw did not get a bit of crap from the other guys on the Fox Sports Pre-Game show. That says something.

Rex can play very well. We saw it the 1st half of last year. To play at that level is not accidental. He will get back to that again.

The QB position is not the problem. The running game is. Even last year when we ran the ball OK, it still wasn't a dominating running game.

What’s happened is that the league adjusted to Ron Turner and the Bears offense. They threw the sink at Rex all the time. We had no counter. Turner called plays that put Rex and the offense in a position to fail.

Rex or Griese have no one to throw it to. That's the problem. How long do you think our receiving corps could last and play at New England or Indianapolis? Would you bet money on any game that Brady or Manning had to use our receivers to move the ball and score points? Nope.

Rex's problems have been a symptom of a great QB in a very bad system. Let him loose with guys who can play and we would see similar numbers as the other premiere QB's in the league.

Captain Obvious

Hate to say it but I told me so.

Brian Griese's lack of arm strength and quick decision making was on display for all of us to see. He is a very good back up but that's it.

There are 2 ways to turn it over - 3 and out or throw a pick/fumble. Griese may not be as turn over prone as Rex but what is the difference between a 3 and out and a punt than getting picked off down field?

Lovie has known all along that Rex was the better of the 3 QB's. But a lot of you are crappin' your selfs if you think this will mean a thing.

Since last year I have been a running a constant op-ed to all the Bad Rex talk. Sure, Rex has done some dumb things. Twice, sometimes, in the same game. Makes you shake your head. How ever, that said, he is the guy to take us back to the Super Bowl. My biggest complaint has always been with the coaching staff. After there was enough film on Rex and the Bears offense, other teams adjusted. I'm not smart enough to say what, but we all know they did. But it was the same old song and dance from the Bears offense. Rex do this, do that - we never made adjustments. We were living fat off the defense. And the slow simmer of frustration began to brew from the newly-formed Rex haters.

Well, well, today was a good day in Chicago to listen to Sports Talk Radio. In the morning Waddle and Silvey had ex-Bear QB Jim Miller. I loved that guy. He was tough, smart and moved the ball. I can't remember exactly why he left town - my guess he wasn't perceived as a top shelf guy and the Bears were up to their old tricks again - tossing nickels around like man-hole covers (Ditka, 1960's).

In a nut shell Miller had praise for Rex and said he has a good future in the league. He notated that we do not have the following:

1. A running game and running back.
2. A real good offensive line.
3. Good play calling; ability to adjust to other teams adjustments.
4. Receivers that are a threat
5. Receivers that actually go in motion - imagine that?

Miller also noted that all-world Drew Brees has worse numbers than Rex: 1 TD, 7 picks. Do think Breeze will get the hook? Nah, the story line is not suppose to play out that way with the new "America's Team".

Oh, did anyone catch Muhsin Muhammad's sound bite about the "route" he ran Sunday night. It's comical. Kudos to Waddle & Silvy to play the sound bite and ad-lib over it. It was funny. The same with Boers & Bernstein of the Score. I usually don't agree with them on much, but I have to admit their show today was right on the mark. They primed us for the change at QB and also pointed out most of the above. Hat's off to the media. I'm not sure if it's sincerity or that they knew it wasn't all Rex and they are pre-emptively covering their collective asses. At any rate, we are about to find that out over the next few games.

The Rex Grossman Sucks Onion

OK Rex haters and non-believers...

<u1:p></u1:p>Rex Grossman is a GREAT QB in a bad system. If he were to go to Indy or New England he would blossom and amaze us week in and week out.<u1:p></u1:p>

<u1:p></u1:p>This is the current Rex Grossman story line starting with the Cardinal game in 2006: Rex sucks, he doesn't belong in the NFL. Jeez, the month before that game everybody voted him offensive player of the month and talking Pro Bowl this and that.

<u1:p></u1:p>What has happened? Several things. First off the coaching is showing it's limitations and 2nd tier ability. Lovie ain't that great. Ron Turner sucks. I'll elaborate on him in a while. Arizona found a way to get to Grossman. He didn't have much time if any to throw. Everyone says he can't think on his feet and is a gun slinger. Not true. He just has no one to throw it to. Muhammad? Berrian? Bradley? Davis? These guys have a hard time getting open. Do these WR's frighten any team out there? Are they in anyone’s Fantasy leagues? No, of course not. Before I get a quote reply about "not having time to throw" and how a NFL QB should be able to deal with it, consider this - Manning has a Reggie Wayne and Brady has a Moss.

Grossman has a quick release as good as anyone in the league. The problem is that a quick release is useless when you have no one to throw it to. The Bears receivers suck. End of story. As a matter of fact, if you put the Bears receivers in Dallas, New England, or Indy, where would those teams be? They would start sucking real bad, just like the Bears are now.

<u1:p></u1:p>Running game. Show me a great QB who's is having statistically a great year and leading his team to the playoffs and I'll show you a good O-line and a great back. What did the Bears brain trust come up with? Trading Thomas Jones to the Jets so they can let the soon-to-be-a-bust Cedric Benson average 2.2 yds a carry so far. Wow that's got to scare opposing defenses. Hey Dallas fans, before Sunday night's game, were you guys in awe of our 4th round pick, Benson? The guy has the whole package: break away speed, can bounce to the outside on the drop of a dime, never fumbles...

<u1:p></u1:p>Bring in Brady, Manning and Romo to the Bears and they will put up Rex numbers as well. They'll have Berrian drop a perfect hitch pattern pass cuz the defender bumped him a little too hard. We used to have a receiver named Tom Waddle (you can catch him on the NFL Network - smart guy) who used to get hit twice as hard week in and week out and never dropped the ball. Period. We have receivers running BS routes and slowing down at the end cuz they don't know what to do. I will bet anyone if we could look back at Rex's pics, 30-40% of them were not his fault. We don't have receivers who can fight for a ball or run great routes or, minor point, separate from defenders. TO put on a clinic and showed all Bear fans what's wrong with our team. It was hiding right in front of us - TO found pockets in the zone and exploited them. Our guys are afraid to do that for some reason or they just suck. Did I say the Bear receivers suck?

<u1:p></u1:p>The story line that “Rex sucks” has gotten to the absurd. During the Dallas game, NBC producers had the sideline babe train a camera on Grossman. She made him appear aloof and maybe not "getting" what the coaches were showing him...she trails off with "and then he just walks away and keeps his thoughts to himself". Like that’s a bad thing. Was he suppose to yuk it up with the guys and pretend the team isn’t getting whipped? Then what would the media say? Come on. That was pure stupidity. I was surprised NBC did not throw some depressing soundtrack running in the background during their impromptu hit piece. This is a perfect example of the media going nuts to find and perpetuate this story. OK, now our side line babe does a 20 second infomercial on Tony Romo. Life is good, Romo is great, yadda, yadda, yadda and she ended with and "Tony Romo just goes off and keeps his thoughts to himself". Like it was a good thing. De what?

<u1:p></u1:p>Ron Turner. Now there is a master of utilizing talent. I thought Schoop left town? OK, you are Dallas and the Bears just ran Benson to the 3 yd line. 2nd and goal. How come every one at the game including the guys about to make the tackle knew that Mr. 1st rounder was going to run up the middle? Dallas just closed down the box and we got no where. OK let’s kick a frickin’ field goal. 4 points lost. That is the Turner I know. Oh did I say Rex has no one to throw to? Maybe Turner doesn’t take the game down field not because he has no faith in Rex, but he too, knows that Rex has no one to throw it to. Ya think?

<u1:p></u1:p>I like Rex because I think he posses great talent and has a great arm. His throws are usually accurate and almost have the same zip as Farve’s. I’ve had many a Packer fan tell me they see Rex making throws only Farve could do. Yea, it’s the unwashed guy on the street making that statement and not an "expert" but everybody who isn't caught up in the Rex hype sees something special.

<u1:p></u1:p>Brian Griese. Like Deion Sanders said last night on the NFL Network, Brian Griese is a backup for a very good reason. He got cut from 3 teams as the starter. The dumbest story line in Chicago is the “let’s give Griese a chance”. A “chance”? For what? If we have a flat tire – to me it’s the offensive line and receivers – then don’t replace the engine because things don’t move. Doug Buffone and Eddie O'Bradovich, both ex-Bears and the only guys on the Score (WSCR AM 670) worth listening to, want Grossman benched and Griese as the starter. Fine. I respect those guys but it’s not the answer. They say it’s about “now” and not a few years from now. Well, I’ll have to be proven wrong but Griese will put up similar Rex numbers soon enough and there isn’t any “now” either with him. Just wait and see Doug and Ed.
 <u1:p></u1:p>
<u1:p></u1:p>If the line cannot protect their QB or make holes for their backs then the best guys are just average or worse. Just ask LT and the “high-powered” Charger offense. That’s the first layer of the onion. What NFL team would take any Bear WR’s? None. And that would be the 2nd layer of the onion. Predictable, vanilla play calling. That is the 3rd and definitive layer of the “The Rex Grossman Sucks” onion.
 <u1:p></u1:p>
<u1:p></u1:p>Rex is too good for Chicago. I hate to say that. I’m a life long Bear fan. I want him do to well here. I think the “Bad Rex” syndrome has gotten so out of hand that people are not thinking through what makes a great QB. The team and the city are ruining a great kid and bona-fide NFL QB.
 <u1:p></u1:p>
